Yoga for Healthy Aging Series

In-person only. 4-week series. A gentle slower paced class for students with limitations, or specific individual needs related to aging.  

Iyengar yoga is a wonderful tool to support and empower your body and mind as you age.

Classes are designed with a focus on increasing strength, mobility, balance, and injury prevention. Age related issues such as arthritis, bone and joint health, insomnia, anxiety, and depression are addressed.

While postures are taught with the support of props including the wall and chairs, this is not a chair yoga class.

A wide variety of postures are taught both active and restorative, with modifications given as needed. Classes include personalized attention, yoga philosophy, and breathwork, all in a supportive environment.

Another important aspect of Yoga for Healthy Aging is learning how to relieve stress.

Stress can cause anxiety and depression which can effect our health in many ways: it can disrupt our sleep, weaken our immune system, effect our digestion, cause headaches, back and neck pain, and more. It can also effect our cognitive function. Yoga for Healthy Aging classes include mindfulness techniques used for stress reduction. You will learn how to use your concentration to be present in your body and breath. At the end of each class a variety of restorative postures and breathwork are taught to quiet your nervous system and leave you feeling more relaxed, focused, and refreshed.
